Hi everyone,
I wanted to tell my friend a lot about primers, concealers, tinted moisturizers, etc etc. so I started this video and it became two because I have a lot to talk about. I finished the video with a makeup look but after 15 minutes my camera automatically stops recording…. ARGH!!! So for the finished look, I took pictures at the end. When adding the product information and checking if I don’t look like a complete rambling idiot I found out that a HUGE part of the video was missing, so I reshot part 2 butttt not the makeup look, so I’ll explain the look and show you pictures at the and of this post (part 2 of the video is coming later today). When retaping the second part I actually talked so much more that I now have a set of 5 video’s and a 2 part brush video (incl. eyeliner tutorial) to show you soooo…. get some tea (I’m drinking a cup of tea whilst writing this), get some snacks, get comfortable and I hope you don’t fall asleep halfway through
All products were paid by me or bought for me. No sponsoring or anything of that sort in these video’s this is just me, my favourite products and my opinion.
The products I mention are:
- Amore Pacific - Treatment enzyme peel
I used this because my skin needed a peel, it’s been getting used to a different climate with spring coming and that means that it goes a little bonkers and this peel works great and mildly enough for a slightly sensitive skin like mine.
- Maria Galland – Hydra lift yeux 100 (eyecream)
I’ve talked about this eyecream before, it’s amazing for me because I wear contacts and it doesn’t make my eyes water, it’s a gel texture so it soaks in pretty quickly which means I can put on makeup almost immediately after applying. (I usually brush my teeth in between moisturizing and makeup anyway).
- Bliss - the Youth as we know it.
Great for skin that’s not a teen anymore but also not yet a skin that needs a lot of anti-wrinkle products. This is great for this type of weather as well, thick enough for a colder day and thin enough for when the sun comes through.
- Make Up For Ever – HD Primer
My favourite for special occasions and wedding because there is no SPF and that means no chance of flashback.
- Becca – Mineral SPF 30 Primer
Great for summer because it’s lightweight and has a high SPF.
- Laura Mercier – Oil Free Foundation Primer
Makes makeup stick to it like glue. Really amazing!
- Smashbox – Photo Finish Primer
Removes the appearance of pores and fine lines. Be carefull with oily skin though because you can get more breakouts (or so I’ve heard, I don’t have any problems with it)
- Sephora Collection – Tricks of the Trade Immediate Wrinkle Filler
Great for the fine lines under the eyes, works great as a primer for concealer. On my skin it’s slippery though, but on Nic and Nouk it stays put so depending on skintype it can either work or fail.
- Garnier – Roll On Anti-dark circles
Removes puffyness under the eyes because of the caffeine in it. The light tint means I don’t have to use another concealer if I don’t want to and am in a hurry.
- Smashbox – Photo op (under eye brightener)
Great to brighten under the eyes or to use as a highlighter on top of the cheeks or on the browbone.
- Dermalogica – Sheer Tint
A great light tinted moisturizer. It doesn’t look great on flashphotography though, probably because of the zinc in it.
- Garnier – Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream
This BB cream has a sunscreen, a primer, a tint, a moisturizer and it’s a great product. It is a little dewy in finish but I prefer that. If you use this as a base for another foundation and use this instead of a moisturizer, do use a primer in between because the primer in this is not that great to keep your foundation from not moving.
- No. 7 – Duo Protection (no longer available, a better dupe is: No. 7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturizer)
Cheap, perfect colour, perfect stay, perfect in every way.
- Laura Mercier – Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer
The most coverage in a tinted moisturizer I’ve seen so far. A great product with great stay and feel. Because it’s oil free great for oily skin but it’s also moisturizing enough for a dry to normal skin as well.
- YSL – Teint Parfait
Great as a tinted moisturizer, love the smell and the feel of this.
- L’Oréal Paris – True Match Super-blendable Powder
Great as a foundation that you can build. It can be a light coverage when using a brush. You can use it over a tinted moisturizer for a medium coverage. When using the sponge it can even be an almost full coverage concealer.
- Make Up For Ever – HD Foundation
HD is right, it’s an amazing coverage but doesn’t make it look like a thick layer of foundation. This is my favourite foundation of all time.
- Giorgio Armani – Luminous Silk Foundation
I love this semi matte foundation that stays on perfectly and feels like a silk veil on top of your skin.
- Vichy – Dermablend
This is a foundation for people with skinproblems like winemarks, scars, hyper pigmentation or who want to hide freckles or want a really thick foundation.
- Vichy – Normaderm (now sold as normateint)
Great for acne prone skin.
- Benefit – Confessions of a concealaholic
More information of this palette in video 2.
I did a quick and easy look at the end of the second video but because a lot of information went missing I deleted that video and I will show you the pictures and tell you what I used for this look right now.
Preperation:
I used the Smashbox – Photo Finish Primer all over my face with Garnier – Roll On Anti-dark circles under my eyes.
Face:
I used the Giorgio Armani – Luminous Silk Foundation in 5.5 and I really didn’t use anything else on my face.
Eyes:
I used a white eyeliner pencil (the white end from the Bourjois Noir & Blanc pencil) as a base and I patted an Urban Decay glittery light pink eyeshadow in the colour Grind (using a Sephora no. 21 all over shadow brush) on my lid. On my crease I used Shotgun (also by Urban Decay) using a Laura Mercier Angled Eye Colour brush and to finish I used the black side of the Bourjois Noir & Blanc pencil on the outer corner that I blended it with an Essence dome shaped brush (with the purple bristles). I then curled my lashes (using the Shu Uemura curler) and a took a black Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash mascara on the lashes. On my lips I’m wearing Maybelline ColorSensational in Pink Hurricane 165.
